The 9th Dan is my sixth solo album, and seventh release. Life had brought me back to Ontario, and when I left Alberta so did the whole team. Although we no longer lived in the same city, I stayed in touch with Laxin and Absent Minded. We continued working on various projects together and somewhere in there I decided with Laxin to do a solo album. He decided he would produce the whole thing from top to bottom. All the beats, all the recording, everything. Laxin had a studio at his house with a custom vocal booth and all the time in the world. So every few weeks I would go to his studio and we would record three or four tracks over the course of a weekend. This was a time when I was also heavy into emcee battles, and the KOTD (King of the Dot) scene. Plenty of darker and harder tracks on this album. L.O.D. Development handled this release.
Again, (IG @blahblo.picasso) came through with the design and sick art work for this album. He actually painted the cover and then rendered it into my album art. Dope. I was also introduced to and able to feature D-sisive (IG @derekchristoff) on this album. The other vocal features were
iLLvibe(IG @illVibe) and Absent Minded. This is another album that I did not produce the beats on, but I did spend time in the lab with Laxin making a few of them.
